Unique definitely describes country artist and writer Raina Bauman. Of course the first thing you notice about Raina is that she is a very pretty redhead. When she sings, you hear that her voice has a sound all its own-not your typical female country singer. Says veteran radio promoter Bill Wence-”From my first listen to Raina’s music, I was hooked. She’s got whatever “it” is. She knows how to take a song and make it her own with a believable sense of honesty and passion. I think you’ll be hearing a lot more of her in Country music in the near future.” Raina is best known for writing upbeat, kind of kick butt quality songs, like “Harley Man” which she sings full throttle. But her love songs, like “Today Is The Day” are as smooth as they come.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was greatly influenced by her Mom who loved country music.”I remember listening to my Mom playing country music on the radio and I soon started to like it too.” Raina started writing lyrics as a teen ager and started singing in local bands in places that she was really too young to be in. During her college years, she started making the first of many trips to Nashville-making demos of the songs she had written.”I considered myself to be a first and for most, a song writer, says Raina. “It was on one trip to Nashville that I was encouraged to be a singer as well.” It was at that time Raina started making demos of songs that other writers have written. Even though she loved Nashville, Raina always came back home to Pittsburgh. Even though for a time, she put her music on the back burner to have and raise her daughter, music was still very important to Raina.
“My music has always been there for me-a kind of guiding light-getting me through the bad times and giving me expression for the good times.” All of the songs she has written are what she calls “heart songs.” “There is more than one guy out there who provided the inspiration for my songs and if you get a good song out of an experience that is all that matters.” One of those songs, “What Was My Heart Thinkin” that is featured on her CD “Wrong About That” came out of a painful experience. “When I sent the guy the song he got really mad and he didn’t talk to me for a long time, now he is one of my best fans.” That song and the song “Girlfriends” are very popular with Raina’s female fans.
Raina’s debut CD, “Wrong About That,” includes six original songs and even though it was three years in the making, was well worth waiting for. “I was so lucky to have the very talented musician and producer, Stacy Hogan produce the CD.” “I think the combination of my lyrics, voice and his music and production is magical.” Raina is best known for the original song “Harley Man,” which was released as a single and climbed to #5 on the New Music Weekly Country Charts and went to #7 on the Country Indie Chart. The video of “Harley Man” which was directed by Dallas Henry airs on The Country Network. “Hearing my song on the radio and seeing the video on t.v. for the first time was definitely the coolest experience ever.” “The best feeling I get from my music is when someone tells me that one of my songs touched their heart, or put a smile on their face.”
Even though Raina has the fiery, passionate traits of a redhead, underneath lies a very down to earth woman. When not out making music, she is at home in Pittsburgh, enjoying spending time with her daughter , her dog and her kitties. Raina is a Pittsburgh Penguins fan and of course loves riding on the back of a Harley.
